It may have been chilly and rainy outside, but it was HOT up in the club...The Idiot Box Comedy Club, that is.. That's right, the first night of the first round is in the books! I had high hopes and a major need to laugh as the evening started, and I was not disappointed on either count. The crowd was responsive an enthusiastic and ready to laugh. The comics grabbed the energy and ran with it, from the first to the last one. Most of the comics were new to me, so I wasn't sure how it was going to go. Silly f'n me!!! I have some new comics to admire and look forward to seeing them on stage again.
Every comic up there tonight deserved every bit of praise and applause they got. They set the bar high for the other first round shows and, if the other shows live up to expectations, the talent level in the future rounds (even the wild card round), will rival those of years past.
Anyway, the first two comics to make it to the wild card round, ,via comic vote, with another chance to make it to the second round were:
The three comics who made it through straight to the 2nd round, via audience vote, were:
Mike Rinaldi
Aaron Cardwell
Troy Dougie Harris, who was the winner of the $50 prize for getting the night's most votes!

and a special recognition of the other comics who took to the stage tonight. An incredible job, one and all: If you see any of these names on a comedy bill, go see the them, definitely worth it:
